If you're looking for cyclist accommodation in Figueres, Ca La Fustereta is what you've been searching for. We're not a generic hotel with a padlock in the corridor for your bike: we have a private locked garage, tools and a location in the centre of Figueres that puts you at the door of the best routes in the Empordà and Costa Brava.
Figueres is the capital of the Alt Empordà and one of the best-positioned cycling bases in Catalonia. Within 40 km you have the Cap de Creus coast, medieval Besalú, the Fluvià river plains and the road to Cadaqués — one of the most spectacular road descents in the country. All from the centre, with no kilometres of urban riding to get out.
Exclusive space for guests' bicycles. No third-party access, ventilated and accessible at any time during your stay.
Floor pump, basic tools, chain cleaning. Everything you need for a minor adjustment or repair before heading out.
Carrer Pi i Margall, 30. 400 m from the train station — you can arrive by train with your bike from Barcelona — and direct exit onto quiet secondary roads.
Our hosts know the local roads. Ask us for the best option for your level and available time.
Ca La Fustereta is the starting point for our own routes, all mapped on Komoot and documented on the blog. Here are the main options by level:
The Alt Empordà is one of the most complete cycling regions in Catalonia. The flat inland plain offers easy routes for families and leisure cyclists, while the Cap de Creus and Alberes massifs offer technical mountain passes with sea views. From Figueres you can access the full range within a 40–50 km radius.
Figueres train station is a key entry point: Rodalies (Catalan regional rail) allows bicycles free of charge, and the Avant high-speed service from Barcelona takes under an hour (bike reservation required). Arriving without a car is perfectly viable and avoids all transport logistics.
The Empordà climate is excellent for cycling most of the year. Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October) combine mild temperatures with low humidity. The main factor to watch is the tramuntana, the north wind that can be very strong and make northbound routes difficult. Always check the forecast before setting off.
Ca La Fustereta offers two independent spaces in the centre of Figueres, both fully suitable for cyclists:
The Casa Gran sleeps up to 8 people and is ideal for cycling groups or families sharing the experience. Fully equipped kitchen, spacious living area and direct access to the garage.
The Apartment is perfect for couples or solo cyclists who prefer an intimate, functional space with everything needed to recover between stages.
Both accommodations share the garage and workshop, which is exclusive to guests during their stay.
Can you store our bikes during the day while we visit Figueres?
Yes. The garage is accessible to guests at any time, day or night.
Is there a washing machine for cycling kit?
Yes, both accommodations have a washing machine.
Can you recommend routes for our level?
Always. Our hosts know the area and can guide you on the best option: distance, elevation, points of interest and where to stop for food.
How do I get to Figueres by train with a bike?
From Barcelona: Rodalies R11 (bike free) or Avant high-speed (bike reservation required at renfe.com). The station is 400 m from the accommodation.
What is the best time of year to come for cycling?
April–June and September–October. Summer is very hot for long rides and the coastal roads get heavy traffic.
Private garage, equipped workshop and the best routes in the Empordà and Costa Brava at the door. In the centre of Figueres, 5 minutes from the Teatre-Museu Dalí.
